Gazprom ceases gas exports to 2 European companies from Wednesday

MOSCOW, May 31 (PRIME) -- Russian gas giant Gazprom will stop gas exports to Germany’s Shell Energy Europe and Denmark’s Orsted from Wednesday, because it has not received payments from them as of Tuesday, Gazprom Export said in a statement.

“Danish company Orsted has notified Gazprom Export that it does not intend to pay for the supplied gas in rubles… Shell Energy Europe Limited… does not plan to pay on its contract on gas supplies to Germany in rubles,” the company said.

“As of the end of the working day of May 31 (the due date envisaged by the contract), Gazprom Export has not received from both Orsted… and Shell Energy Europe Limited payments for gas deliveries in April… In this connection, Gazprom Export has notified (both companies) of suspension of gas shipments from June 1, 2022,” the company said.
